I decided to spend my last day in Orlando at Islands of Adventure, going on the "big kid" rides and seeing Harry Potter World for the first time. It was so much fun! After leaving Orlando, we headed back to my roommate's hometown of Sarasota where I spent two days exploring her hometown and making new friends. From there, we crosses the Skyway Bridge (one of the coolest bridges I've seen) and went to St Pete, where her mother lives on the beaches of Indian Shores. We explored Downtown St. Pete on my last day there, including the Dalí Museum and the Chihuly Gallery. After enjoying a nice lunch with her family, I packed up and headed to the airport to return to Philadelphia just in time for the arrival of Winter Storm Jonas.
Below is my trip through Islands of Adventure and the West Coast in pictures. Enjoy!
Day 4: Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios
Our final day in Orlando was spent at Islands of Adventure and universal Studios. We entered the park pumped and ready to go on The Hulk at least three times in a row, but to our dismay the Hulk was closed for refurbishing. After wiping the tears from our faces, we decided to start our day off in Seussland, whose aesthetic matched that of my roommate. Going on kiddie ride after kiddie ride and meeting thing 1 and thing 2, we were ready for some bigger rides.
I was most excited to go on Dudley Do-Right's Rip Saw falls because the last time I was in Islands of Adventure over a decade ago, my family and I fell in love with the ride. Thankfully, due to wearing our sweatshirts over our clothes, we didn't get too wet. However, the dryness was short lived after I forced my roommate to go on the Jurassic Park ride where I then got drenched and walked around in soaked clothes for the rest of the day.
From there we then explored HarryPotter world. Having never been an avid fan of Harry Potter, I was nonetheless still fascinated by the world that they created. Of course I paid a visit to Ollivander's and picked up a wand as well as the candy store where I got to have Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and Chocolate Frogs. My trip to Harry Potter world would not be complete without a cup of some good old butterbeer, which if I may say so, was delicious.
After four full and exciting days in Orlando it was time to pack up and head back to Sarasota for the remainder of my trip.
Day 5-8: West Coast of Florida
From Sarasota to St. Pete, I basked in the heat of Western Florida, enjoyed days at the dog park with friends and even hiked around the swampy lands of Myakka River State Park.
